Introduction

My first #OSTCompJam! I am a beginner composer-producer, my sound quality and composition isn't very good nor interesting nor anything new (yet, hopefully), but my only hope is that you all enjoy it just a little!

Also, a little warning: "Unchanging Life" gets very LOUD starting around after the first minute. More details about it on the "The Music" paragraph.

My Imaginary Game

My imaginary game is a VN which focuses on the story of the normal life of the protagonist (inside the protagonist's world). Nothing really bad happens, but nothing really good either. The protagonist lives a painfully uneventful life. There are some minigames for what the protagonist is doing so as to make it a little fun to play through, but the main gist is the dialogues or monologues. Like, how does the protagonist think?  How do they interpret the world around them? What do they say while going through, say, a depressive episode, and how do they deal with it or recover from it? The protagonist could also discuss some ideas while lying on the bed, thinking.

There could also be some characters with their own storylines that are either going to be helpful or detrimental to the protagonist's mental state. And also romance options. Storylines with the characters may converge and affect each other depending on the order of events that are up to the player. Well, that's just me being ambitious, and the current soundtrack wouldn't be justified for the size of the game if that was to be the case.

The Music

Now the music part. All tracks feature the same theme/leitmotif and the same chords. It's a little sad in tone, but there is still kind of a pinch of happiness. It's kind of a "longing or hoping for a change" tone, I guess. It's also repetitive. I suppose it highlights the monotony of the protagonist's life. The leitmotif also represents the protagonist themself. If there were other main characters I suppose they should have their own leitmotifs, but as of right now I am not planning on making them.

First track ("Uneventful Days") plays when protag is outside doing either work, school, groceries, etc.

Second track ("Bedroom") plays when protag is inside the, you guessed it, bedroom. Since they have the same tempo and length I guess the first and second tracks could smoothly transition to each other while coming in and out the bedroom. Not by fading but every four bars, maybe.

Third & last track ("Unchanging Life") plays probably on the ending or something. It gets very loud around the middle and it is intentional, I used distortion effects for it. I suppose that the track represents the protagonist's turmoil with their unchanging uneventful monotonous boring life. They are sick of it, but they can't do much about it anyway.

Outroduction I guess

Honestly, I didn't put as much thought into it, I probably should have. I am just not creative enough to do so. And I am quite lazy and unmotivated and suffering from low self-esteem and confidence issues. But then again, I can only improve if I keep making music. I hope my interpretation of the text theme for the #OSTCompJam 7  "inside my world" was at the very least plausible. I'm gonna be honest, I intentionally chose the most simple interpretation I could think of, mostly because I thought I probably wouldn't be able to make a justifiable soundtrack for anything bigger than that. I don't really know anymore, I'm just rambling. If you read all of this, thank you!
